 DO'S

• Do obey all traffic rules, traffic signs and instructions given by a police officer(Rule 22 of rules of Road Regulation, sec-119 of MV Act,1988).
• Do carry your driving licence, certificate of registration of motor vehicle, insurance certificate of motor vehicle while driving( permit & fitness in case of transport only) and shall produce if asked to do so by any police officer in uniform.(Rule 32 of Rules of Road Regulations,Sec-158 of MV Act,1988).
•Do drive your vehicle within the prescribed speed limits(sec-112 of MV Act,1988).
• Do wear a safety helmet while driving or riding a motor cycle/scooter etc.in a public place. Sikhs, ladies and children under 12 years of age are exempted( sec-129 of MV Act,1988).
• Do wear seat-belt if you are driving or sitting on the front seat of any vehicle other than motor cycle and three-wheelers of engine capacity not exceeding 500 cc.(Rule 138(3) of Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989).
• Do stop your vehicle, if you are required to do so by any police officer in uniform or when any person-in-charge of an animal requires you to do so. ( sec-132 of MVAct,1988).
• Do stop at the site of an accident in which you are involved and take the injured to the nearest hospital unless the injured person desires otherwise . Do inform the nearest police station as soon as possible about the accident, in any case within 24hrs of the occurrence(sec-134 of MV Act,1988).
• Do complain to traffic police about the mis-behaviour or any other violation by public transport vehicle(bus/mini-bus/tempo/auto-rickshaw/taxi etc.). 
• Do stop at Traffic Signal if it shows Red Light, even if there is no other vehicle coming from the other side .( Rule 119 of CMV Rules, 1989). 
•Traffic on the Main Road has priority ,if you are coming from a side road Do stop or slow down before merging with the traffic of main road. 
•Do give indication if you want to turn right well in advance, if you are driving in center or left lane you need to change lane and come to the extreme right lane before turning. Turning from the center or left lane is dangerous and will amount to dangerous driving.

 DONT'S

•Do not cross or cut continuous center line . Do not change lane where there is continuous lane marking. Give signal before changing lane.
• Do not leave your vehicle abandoned or to remain at rest on any public place in such a position or in such a condition as to cause or likely to cause danger or obstruction or undue inconvenience to other users of public place or the passengers.( sec -122 of MV Act,1988).
•Do not allow or permit any person to be carried on the running board or other wise than within the body of the vehicle . do not travel on the running board or on the top or on the bonnet of the vehicle .
• Do not allow the vehicle to remain stationary in any public place, unless there is in the driver's seat a person duly licenced to drive a vehicle unless the mechanism has been stopped or brakes applied or other measures taken as to ensure that vehicle cannot accidentally be put in motion in the absence of driver.(sec-126 of MV Act,1988).
• Do not leave your vehicle unattended or abandoned in a public place for more than ten hours, other wise it may be removed by towing service by a police officer .Where an abandoned vehicle is causing a traffic hazard it may be removed immediately and the cost of towing shall be recovered from the owner.(sec-127 of MV Act,1988).
•Do not use a vehicle in a public place unless your vehicle is insured.( sec-146 MV Act,1988).
• Do not give your vehicle to a person not have a valid driving licence.
• Do not use mobile phone while driving. 
• Do not drink if you have to drive. 
• Do not blow horn unnecessary.
