दिनांक 16/04/2018 को ओरिएंटल कॉलेज में ट्रैफिक अवेयरनेस और महिला सुरक्षा पर कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया जिसमें लगभग 800 छात्र छात्राओं और कॉलेज स्टाफ शामिल हुए

" महिला सुरक्षा - हमारा संकल्प " के समबन्ध में सार्वजनिक यात्री वाहनों में महिलाओं की सुरक्षा को द्रष्टि गत रखते हुये . भोपाल पुलिस द्वारा पम्पलेट चिपकाये गए , जिसमें महिला हेल्पलाइन नंबर , वीमेन सेफ्टी अप्प , चाइल्ड हेल्पलाइन नंबर अंकित है .जिसमे अति० पुलिस अधीक्षक यातायात श्री महेंद्र जैन , उप पुलिस अधीक्षक यातायात श्री अजय वाजपेयी व श्री रामकुमार टेकाम थाना प्रभारी यातायात भोपाल उपस्थिति रहे .

Bhopal is said to have been founded by the Parmara King Bhoj (1000–1055), The city was originally known as Bhojpal named after Bhoj and the dam ('pal') that he is said to have constructed to form the lakes surrounding Bhopal . " Bhopal " capital of Madhya Pradesh is known throughout the country as city of lakes.. The ‘City ' boasts of several lakes and greenery in and around the city. Bhopal city is divided into two major areas "Old Bhopal " being historical city and has narrow roads, "New Bhopal" has broad roads that are flanked by landscaped greenery. . The total area under BMC is 285 km². Bhopal planning area consists of 601 sq km, out of which 285 sqkm is municipal area and the rest consists of BHELTownship, Bairagarh and 135 urban-rural villages.

National Highway 12 passes through Bhopal which connects it to Jabalpur in the East and Jaipur in the West. National Highway 86 connects Bhopal to Sagar in the East to Indore in the West The city is fast emerging as an education hub is being labeled as one of the fastest emerging metros in central India . Bhopal is also coming up as a center of adventure sports The ever growing population and the increasing vehicular congestion, however, have placed tremendous pressure on the city roads. During the last two decades the number of vehicles on the city roads has increased at a phenomenal pace. Today more than 10 lakh vehicles are registered in Bhopal with 200 vehicles being added every day on the city roads. The city population has crossed the 25 lakh mark .This increased congestion on the city roads has led to an increase in the accident rate & a gradual deterioration in the overall quality of driving in the city. In year 2015 the city witnessed 231 deaths due to road accidents. Reduction of the accident rate & a qualitative improvement of the driving experience is the biggest challenge for the Traffic Police Bhopal.

The Bhopal Traffic Police was sanctioned as a separate unit, distinct from the District Police, in the year 1984 vide Government's Gazzette Notification No. 2100/5508/ 83/B-3/2 Bhopal dated 07-06-1984 . Today, it is headed by a Superintendent of Police who is assisted by 1 Addl SP ,6 DSP & 13 Traffic Inspectors. The City is divided into seven sub-divisions and traffic regulation in each is supervised by a separate DSP. The internal administration is looked after by an Inspector (SHO),headed by DSP.

The traffic police has one interceptor vehicle to assist the traffic police at intersections and traffic signals to intercept traffic violators. Five Recovery Vans and one heavy crane are deployed for the towing of wrongly parked vehicles. The total strength of the traffic police including all ranks is around 811. This is further augmented by some 78 Traffic Wardens. The estimated 10000 odd auto-rickshaws, 800 mini-buses,600 Tata Magic, around 400 diesel tempo(APE) ,210 feeder buses and 50 Star Buses plying on the city roads further make the task of traffic management more challenging. The traffic police solicit the active support of its citizens in achieving a smooth flow of traffic and accident free roads.
